Impressive handicap performance Oslo Cup day
Match Maker wins comfortably under tough weight
27 Jun 20: Oslo Cup day had some fine performances, as Øvrevoll Galopp staged their Super Saturday with a limited number of spectators - and one of them was Match Maker's impressive win in a strong handicap over 1370 metres. Taking a drop in distance, the son of Declaration Of War carried top weight of 67 kg to a smooth, and long looking, 1 1/2-length verdict over We Got The Boss, who he had finished third to when making his seasonal debut nine days earlier. This was Match Maker's third win. He is a lightly raced gelding and looks the sort to keep on improving. Second and third in 2,000 Guineas
Royal Ambition, like Match Maker also a winner of two races in England, and purchased by Cathrine at the end of the 2019 season, ran a game second in the Norwegian 2,000 Guineas, beaten only by Nordic, who proved just over a length too strong in a driving finish. Royal Ambition's stable companion Sir Leo, a 20-1 shot in this mile classic, finished third, a neck further back. He coped admirably with a big move up in class here.
