Cathrine's four aces light up the night
29 Oct 20: Fabulous four, a grand slam, four aces - call it what you will. Cathrine probably does not mind how we describe it, having enjoyed an unusually bright autumn evening at the races. The first three events on the card were all won by horses saddled by her, and there was more to come. Purple Ace, a heavy favourite for Norsk Rikstotos Oppdrettsløp over 1600 metres, won as he please by open lengths - outclassing the early pacesetter Lady Maleficent to retain his unbeaten record. Half an hour later it was the hard knocking sprinter Shantou's turn, and a prominent trip resulted in a solid win over Calcaterre in the Cave Man Handicap, a contest over 1100 metres. Could Hampus G follow up as he was set to tackle 2400 metres in the Carlos Paz Handicap? Yes he could. Game as ever, this year's St. Leger winner overcame a pedestrian early pace to gain a narrow win, beating Native Star and The Kid after a bit of a dogfight through the last half-furlong. An hour later and we were ready for Norsk Rikstoto Grand Prix over 1600 metres. Buckybabe, who bounced back to form last week, was in the mix - and first past the post once more. Racing neck and neck with Crossroad Blues inside the final furlong, she drew off to beat him by a length. Four winners for Erichsen Racing was a fact. Ever heard of 'stable form'? Well, if not - you have now.
Solid home court success
Shantou back to winning form
